My film "The Kid" is going to San Francisco! 

I'm thrilled to share that my film "The Kid" has been officially selected to screen at the San Francisco Frozen Film Festival! The festival runs from July 16th to 20th, and my film will be screened on July 18th — just 12 days from now!

I'll be traveling from July 14th to 21st, and honestly... I wasn't planning to go. At first, the costs felt way too high. But then, my amazing friend V said, "Don't worry, I'll find you a place to stay." And guess what? He did! Suddenly, the idea of going didn't seem so impossible. I thought, why not? We only live once.

But then came the next wave of panic: Can I actually afford this? Flights, food, local transport — how will I survive the week?

(To be fair, I asked myself the same thing back in February, when I went to a film festival in New York... and survived on 1-euro pizza slices. True story.)

So… why the U.S., and why now?

To be honest, I never felt the urge to go to America. I even thought I might live my whole life without setting foot there — and that would be fine, especially considering the current state of things. But life is strange. My dark comedy films seem to resonate with American audiences, and when I was in NYC earlier this year (with the same film in a film festival there), something clicked. I felt alive. (I live in Finland — even a drunk guy shouting in the street right now feels like drama, OK?)

So here I am: asking for a bit of help.

My budget is very tight. A kind friend (M) suggested: "Why don't you crowdfund and offer your creative skills in return?" So… let's do it!

• 3 nights in a hostel: €100 (shared bunk room — the rest of the days I have a host)

• Food: €350 (7 days x ~€50/day for two meals and breakfast)

• Transport (around SF + Oakland): €50
